Soudelor Construction, SCS Just Chillin’ triumph in SBA Thursday League

BAMBOO Soudelor Construction and SCS Just Chillin’ emerged victorious in separate nail-biting games Thursday as they continued to move up in the Thursday Division team standings of the SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League.

Bamboo Soudelor Construction escaped defeat after pulling off a major comeback against Last Shot Eleven Tiger, 7-6.

After splitting the first two matches, Eleven Tiger broke the deadlock thanks to its players’ individual performances. Precision and placement were the key factors in Rey Pinangay, Jack Thornsaket and Warlee Ellama’s wins to notch a 3-1 run in the second Singles 8-Ball match and seize the lead, 6-4.

However, as soon as Eleven Tiger lowered their guard, Soudelor Construction managed to build momentum with a two-win sweep in the next Partners 8-Ball match, courtesy of Chester Hamoy and Chris Manalo, along with Rolly Villanueva and Ryan Barlaw, who evened the score once again, 6-6.

In the final Partners 8-Ball match, Soudelor Construction’s Frankie Blas and Maverick Espinosa delivered, beating Eleven Tiger’s Ivan Sales and Raymond David to steal the win, 7-6.

Winners, too

SCS Just Chillin’ staged a rally to overcome VFW No Regrets, 7-6.

No Regrets were hungry for the win and it showed as Chris Camacho, Mei Rengiil, John Reyes and Joe Villagomez swept the opening Singles 8-Ball match for a 4-0 advantage.

For their part, Just Chillin’ gradually worked their way back up. After splitting the first Partners 8-Ball match, they turned the tide with Rowel “Cobra” Mariano, Dan Mateo and Jerry Tiu scoring a 3-1 run in the second Singles 8-Ball match to cut down the deficit, 4-6.

Just Chillin’ then kept pushing forward with Ken Chen and Toto Bigcas sweeping the third Partners 8-Ball match to even the score, 6-6.

No Regrets failed to get out of the gutter, losing the final Partners 8-Ball to Chen and Mariano who sealed the deal, 7-6.

Joining the winner’s circle were the VFW IT&E Homeboyz who defeated Bamboo Kabalen, 8-5; and the 9 Eleven Rebels 2 who outscored the 9 Eleven Crazy Ballers, 9-4.
