TINIAN Elementary School bagged back-to-back wins Saturday in the elementary school division of the IT&E Interscholastic Basketball League at the Marianas High School gym.
Tinian claimed their first victory of the day by powering past Grace Christian Academy, 16-6.
Sheer hustle was the name of the game for Tinian as they relentlessly attacked the rim while smothering GCA defensively. Tinian’s Traven Evangelista took over the spotlight in the first half as he scored three consecutive buckets, including one three-pointer, for a total of seven points to give his team the lead.
GCA struggled but with enough effort they scored four points to stay within reach by halftime, 4-9.
However, GCA lost their touch in the second half as they produced one bucket only due to their inability to bring the ball past half court.
Tinian, for their part, continued to shine with teamwork as Hoshara Hossain joined the onslaught to deliver two points while team mate Francisco Moses added the icing on the cake with a jump shot and a triple for a double-digit victory over GCA, 16-6.
2nd victory
Tinian did not show any signs of fatigue when they faced their next opponent, Kagman Elementary School.
KagES had a strong start and kept up with Tinian offensively, trailing by just four points, 5-9, by the end of the first half.
But in the second half, KagES was silenced by Tinian’s defense. And thanks to Evangelista, Tinian scored four consecutive points to seal the deal, 13-5.
