THE Rendezvous Warriors are the top team in the Tuesday Division of the 2023 SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League with 33 wins after defeating the Black 8 Slayers, 9-4, on Tuesday at Rendezvous Restaurant, Saipan Vegas.
The Warriors asserted dominance early with Juancho Mendoza, Jess Guerra, and Cesar Sangalang pulling a 3-1 run in the opening Singles 8-Ball game.
The Slayers fought back with Rey Hermogenes and Oliver Gragasin, along with Ray “Stingray” Matsunaga and Arlon Buensalida, besting the Warriors to sweep the Partners 8-Ball game and even the score, 3-3.
But the Warriors returned the favor with a four-win sweep in the second Singles 8-Ball game to regain control, 7-3.
The Slayers bagged one more win before the Warriors claimed the last two games to secure match victory, 9-4.
Destroyers vs Shooters
The Rendezvous IT&E Destroyers, for their part, now have a total of 30 wins after outshooting the Black 8 Shooters, 8-5.
The Destroyers notched a 3-1 run in the opening singles game but were swept by the Shooters in the next contest to tie the score, 3-3.
However, the Destroyers proved to be better in the one-on-one scene, pulling another 3-1 run to regain the driver’s seat, 6-4.
The Shooters tried to stay alive but they could only split the second Partners 8-Ball game while the Destroyers claimed the final contest of the night to triumph, 8-5.
Also joining the winner’s circle were the third-seed Black 8 Ideal Signs Rustlers who slipped past the True North Lucky 8Shooters, 7-6.
