YUKO Togawa and Lou Kim topped the gross and net categories of the CNMI Women’s Golf Association two-day tournament over the weekend.
On day one of the tournament’s gross category at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort, Togawa performed well despite struggling with a handful of bogeys as she balanced her score with a few pars and a birdie for a gross of 44 on the front nine. On the back nine, she committed a double bogey at hole #11 but then improved her game with more pars to end with a gross of 45 and a gross total of 89.
On day two, at Coral Ocean Golf Resort, Togawa tweaked her swing and closed the front nine with a gross of 41. She performed better on the back nine with a gross of 39 for a total gross of 80.
Her combined gross scores — 89 and 80 — totaled 169 which gave her the first place trophy and a golf bag.
In second place was Sherlyn Jones who also notched a gross score of 169 but was bested in the playoff scorecard by Togawa.
Jones went home with the second place trophy along with a Takagi Umbrella, free play at Kingfisher Golf Links, and a $10 gift certificate from Country House.
In third place was Yi Su Jeong with a gross total of 171. She received the third place trophy, a bottle of wine, two Nike One golf balls, a Tasi bag and a $10 gift certificate from Country House.
Net total
In the net category, Lou Kim was number one with a total net score of 139.
On day one at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort, Kim shot a gross of 51 on the front and 49 on the back for a gross total of 100. Supported by a handicap of 24, she earned a net score of 76.
On day two at Coral Ocean Golf Resort, Kim improved her game, scoring a gross of 46 on the front nine and 41 on the back nine for a total of 87 which, with a 24 handicap, gave her a net score of 63.
Combining her scores on both days, Kim secured a total net score of 139 which was good enough for a first place trophy and a putting green mat.
In second place was Sherlyn Jones whose scores, based on her 12 handicap, were 75 on day one and 70 on day two for a net total of 145.
She went home with the second place trophy, a Takagi umbrella and a $20 gift certificate from Himawari.
In third place was Yi Su Jeong with a net total of 149 based on her 11 handicap. She went home with the third place trophy, a cosmetic bag, two Nike One golf balls and a $10 gift certificate from Country House.
Point system
For her part, Sherlyn Jones led the Point System Ranking with a total of 128 points which gave her the first place trophy and a golf bag.
In second place was Rose Rohringer with 97 points. She won a trophy, an IT&E chair and umbrella while Lou Kim, who came in at third with 97 points, received a trophy, a $25 gift certificate from Kuriya and a Nike One golf ball.
In fourth place was Kyunga Park who scored 97 points and won a $20 gift certificate from Himawari.
