The Hustlers started out with Jerry Soriano, who defeated Ray Takai in two games. Who-Oah’s Ed Suzuki also had no luck after falling to Erwin Gomez. Joey Cruz forced Hustlers’ Jenen Pangilinan into a tiebreaker but lost as well.
Despite their wins, Soriano and Gomez ended the night with a loss from Suzuki and Randy Sablan. With a 69.2 percent win-rate, the Hustlers are ahead of the Jonny’s IT&E Voyagers by two wins.
In addition, Soriano currently holds the ‘run the rack’ title with eight points.
At fourth place in the Agingan Division, the Buddies IT&E Incredibles played a near perfect game after beating the D’Pirates Team Pirates 6-1. Pirates’ Bert Rufugio managed to stay alive last Tuesday while his teammates fell to Dean Borja, Mark Butac, Chester Cuento, Chester Hamoy, and Eric Caisip. Boasting 56 wins, 35 losses, and a 61.5 percent win-rate, the Incredibles aren’t very far from the league’s top three groups.
Coming third place overall were the Jonny’s Home Boyz, who defeated the USSP Turtles 5-2 last Tuesday. Having the home advantage, Mario Diola conquered Turtles’ Leo Sablan in the first game. Home Boyz’ Franz De Luna crushed Nizer Masayos in a singles match before beating him again in the doubles round with teammate Juancho Mendoza.
Meanwhile, the Wild Bill’s Shark Attacks caught team USSP Fotten Palau by surprise with a 5-2 victory. The Shark Attacks’ performance this week brought them four wins behind for first place in the Obyan Division. The Fotten Palaus eked out two wins in the singles round before being overrun by Patrick Taitano and Ben Norita.
The VFW ToroKeyRees also had a close game against the Voyagers, winning three out of seven games. Voyagers’ Rolly Villanueva drew first blood in the singles round, followed by a win from teammate Roman Rodriguez.
ToroKeyRee’s Jimmy Wang soon turned the tables with victories over Luis Fajardo and Rolly Villanueva.
