Ngiratmab leads in Ngaremlengui special election

Based on the unofficial result of the Palau Election Commission (PEC), Ngiratmab got 110 votes while Mad garnered 74 votes and one vote was void.

PEC Administrative Specialist II Maria Decherong-Simer, said Ngermetengel hamlet has 360 registered voters but only 185 cast their votes.

The special election was held in Ngermetengel Hamlet to fill in the seat vacated by legislator Webster “Tero” Franz.

Representing Ngermetengel hamlet and served as vice speaker of the State Legislature, Franz resigned from his post on Aug. 31.

Franz was reportedly to have moved with his family to the United States where he has established residency.

Pursuant to State constitution, if a vacancy occurs in at least 180 days remaining for the rest of the term, a special election will he held to fill in the vacant seat.

The PEC is expected to certify the election result today, five days after the election.

Meanwhile for the Kayangel State special election, Simer said there is no schedule yet has been set. The board is still on the process of discussion.
