Hocog wants Labor’s operations decentralized

Hocog, who ran for re-election but lost, said the non-issuance of entry permits may be attributed to the current system that is not working properly.

Some of the pertinent documents of the workers have been lost, he added.

He said the central government should allow Labor’s Rota office to fast-track the processing of the guest workers’ papers.

Some guest workers interviewed by this reporter said they don’t know how to get the umbrella permit because they have not been issued an entry permit.

Labor representatives were scheduled to visit Rota to issue the two-year umbrella permit before Nov. 8.

Hocog said he will propose the decentralization of Labor’s  functions as well as the other government agencies that have offices on Rota.

He said he will introduce legislation to compel the delegation of authority.

Rota, he added, should also be provided with sufficient facilities and equipment to handle the documentation and processing of government permits.
