KOROR (Palau Horizon) – Graced by officials of the Palau Basketball Federation, a representative of the major sponsor, Shell Palau, and team coaches/players joined the opening of this year’s newly formatted and freshly named Shell Amateur Basketball League (ABL) at the Palau National Gymnasium.
A short opening ceremony organized by the PBF officials where teams were presented with their sponsors occurred early evening Tuesday, 24th of November at PNG. In addition, major sponsor Shell with their spokesperson, Rodrigo “Bebot” Misajon presented a check for $15,000 to help in the operations and other financial obligations of the federation.
Right after the opening, four teams went to clash at once as team Ranchers met with team High Tide on the first game followed by a match between Ididers and Airwaves, PCC Mesekui and Peched team.
Although branded by a different name, ABL will still feature the same type and brand of game that it’s been presenting for the past years of basketball in Palau, exciting, thrilling, and jaw dropping moves and plays that will surely a thing to watch. The league will still have household named teams mixed with new teams whom have put up a good line up as well that will compete in a good game of hoops.

Franco Gibbons, Ngerbuns – Delegate Kalistus Ngirturong, Ranchers – Leg. Job Kikuo, MEDA – Surangel & Sons Co., South Coast – Senator Mlib Tmetuchl, PPR – Palau Pacific Resort, Ngiwal 79ers – Ngiwal State Government, Airwaves – Shimbros International Co., ON Fire – Koror State Government, Jaguars – Surangel & Sons / CTSI, Meda Boyz, Klebokl, Ididers, Meyuns Red Storm, and Peched.
ABL is operated under the supervision of Palau Basketball Federation where three games will be played every Mondays to Fridays and is sponsored by Shell Palau.
