Assistant AG talks to 9th graders at MHS

Gallagher, who is with the criminal division, said he has been an attorney for 17 years now, “and I’ve been a prosecutor for most that time, and yes this is definitely something that I’m extraordinarily passionate about.”

Jocelyn Itibus’s ninth grade language arts students, were all ears during his presentation.

He talked about how he held a variety of careers before becoming a prosecutor.

He was a truck driver and a farmer, and also worked at a radio station in Pennsylvania.

While working as a truck driver he went to law school at night.

“Every job that I had ever held provided me with certain lessons that helped me in my career as an attorney and as a prosecutor,” Gallagher said.

He said intellectual curiosity helps stimulate the mind.

“My parents were very big on intellectual curiosity,” he said, “I’m still kind of a curious guy.”

He said his chosen career “makes it fun to get up in the morning and go to work. “

“If I can encourage the students at the high school to just be curious, whatever careers they choose, then, I think that today would have been a success,’ Gallagher told this reporter.

Over 50 individuals from different professions made presentations to MHS students yesterday.
