7 arrested for possession of marijuana, ‘ice’

DPS spokesman PO2 Eric David said that aside from the seven arrested persons, seven vehicles were also impounded, and an undetermined amount of marijuana and “ice” were confiscated.

“All other information pertaining to these cases [is] still pending investigation,” David said, adding that the arrested persons were booked and detained at the Department of Corrections.

Police reported the operations as having taken place between Dec. 31, 2009 and Jan. 3, 2010.

The Criminal Investigation Division, assisted by the CNMI Customs Service Drug Detection Dog Unit, conducted the operations.

“Most of the individuals were arrested for vehicle infractions or violators’ stops,” David said, clarifying that the arrests were not made during checkpoint operations.

David said the police operated within the vicinities of  American Memorial Park, the multi-purpose center, and in villages where there had been a spike in  criminal activities.
