Take home summer backpack

Parents or guardians are required to attend a one-hour training session on how to use these educational materials at home during the summer break. Your child will get the “Take Home Summer Backpack” provided the parent or the guardian attends the training on any of the following schedule:

• July 14 – Kindergarten & 1st grade – 9 to 10 a.m., cafeteria

• July 14 – 2nd & 3rd grade – 2 to 3 p.m., cafeteria

• July 15 – 4th & 5th grade – 9 to 10 a.m., cafeteria

• July 15 – Parents who have not attended any of the sessions – 2 to 3 p.m., cafeteria.

Your parental involvement in your child’s academic plan will have a positive impact on learning successes for school year 2010-2011.

‘Alice in Wonderland’ on Tinian

THE Tinian Public Library, Tinian Mayor’s Office and the Northern Mariana Islands Council for the Humanities are inviting the Tinian community and visitors to the island this Saturday to the Saturday summer outdoor film, part of the Tinian Summer Books and Films Series.

The film shown will be “Alice in Wonderland” directed by Tim Burton, starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, at the Kammer Beach Main Pavilion.

The event is free of charge, and open to the public. This program is made possible in part by a community grant from the NMI Council for the Humanities.
