“My contribution in preserving the history of the CNMI was indeed very honorable on my part and I am proud of such an accomplishment,” he said.
Del Rosario, 56, cited health reason for his decision to retire.
After he suffered a heart ailment in Nov. 2009, he has regularly visited the Philippines for medical check-ups.
He said he was advised by his doctor to retire due to his heart problem.
Del Rosario submitted his resignation to NMC Dean of Student Services Leo Pangelinan on June 1 and it takes effect on June 30.
In an interview, Del Rosario said he has served the college since the first NMC president was installed.
“My employment at Northern Marianas College has been a very rewarding and educational experience, and something that I will treasure all my life,” he said in his letter to Pangelinan.
It was a very challenging and worthwhile experience to serve the institution, Del Rosario added.
When he first worked for NMC in 1984, he said, the archives did nor exist.
But his dedication and hard work paid off and he was able to collect and preserve the government’s archival records.
He said there is still a lot of work to be done.
The college, he added, should continue lobbying for legislation in order for the archives office to become the central government’s archival repository.
