“Yes, there were cuts in the budget of my Ministry,” Rehuher-Marugg said. “But we are hopeful that we will be able to request for external fundings, grants.”
According Rehuher-Marugg the cut was 25 percent. “It’s the same cut throughout,” she said. “The important thing is to look for sources of funds that we might be eligible for and apply, see what we can do.”
Despite the cut in the FY 2010 budget, MCCA Minister Faustina Rehuher-Marugg said her Ministry will continue with its major programs and projects, but it might not start new ones.
The minister added that they do what they can with what they have. “That’s the most important thing because for me I look for other sources in terms of grants to help supplement the programs,” she said. But in the nature of grants, sometimes they’re lucky, sometimes they’re not.
“Our Ministry is not big in terms of funding,” Rehuher-Marugg said. “We are big in terms of project and programs. It’s not easy but I am hopeful. I’m always positive,” she added.
