The Ministry of Finance said that the new law that collects additional $15 to Non-Palauan passport holders is successful as far as generating revenues for the Protected Areas Network Fund.
The new fee scheme collects US$35 departure tax from tourists and foreign workers. e Palau hasa Green Fee Law and fees collected will go towards enhancing the country’s terrestrial and marine Protected Areas.
The fee is paid as part of the departure tax payment.
An added payment of $15 on top of the departure tax is now in place. All funds will go towards a trust fund which becomes part of the national budget appropriations for conserving and preserving Protected Areas in Palau.
