PVA launches Palauan Night Market

Melso Miko, PVA community/support services manager, said the night market will start at 5 p.m. and end to 9 p.m.

The event is an open market where local products, foods and delicacies will be displayed.

Miko said aim of the event is to promote cultural heritage (arts, crafts and food) and made in Palau products, the event will also provide additional activities for tourists. The event’s goal is also to promote social integration between community and visitors and to provide opportunity for small locally owned businesses to generate some income.

“This is a cultural heritage. We have some people coming to sell local foods, so you don’t need to cook that night. Buy food there, sit down and enjoy your meal. Socialize and listen to music.” Miko said in an interview.

He added that the PVA will set up the tents for the vendors and tables and chairs will also be put up.

This is the third time the PVA launched the night market.

Miko said the event is supposed to be conducted quarterly but there is a lack of budget to sustain the activity.

The first PNM was held on September and the second one was on November. The two previous activities were successful and because of this Miko expressed optimism that the incoming event will also succeed.
