He said he already informed Education Commissioner Rita A. Sablan about the presence of school-age children on the volcanic island of Pagan. Variety learned that there are four children on the island.
Aldan said he sent a follow-up letter to Sablan on Sept. 20 to inquire about the Public School System’s plan for the children in the Northern Islands.
“As mayor, it is my duty not only to inform you but also my obligation to seek assistance from your office in dispensing the education required by law to our children,” he said.
Aldan did not mention where PSS can get the required funding for his proposal.
The mayor also informed Marylou Ada, chairwoman of the Board of Education, about his proposal.
