Rachel Abrams spearheaded her way through the Lady Ayuyus’ defense in the first quarter, scoring eight of her game high 13 points.
Kagman High was only allowed four points in the opening 10 minutes after back-to-back layups from Tracy and Anzuko.
Tracy however, came back by the second period and fired another two-pointer to break the Dolphins’ 12-point lead.
Like its lopsided victory over Saipan Southern High School two weeks ago, MHS dominated in the offense and added 14 more points before pulling away, 42-18 by the second half.
Alodia Lumasag capped the game with her only basket, which was one of the Dolphins’ only two shots in the final quarter. The other came from Lia Rangamar, who mustered six points overall.
Elilai Pialug, who tallied five of the Ayuyus’ last 13 points, totaled eight while Anna earned seven.
Jaime Mendoza and Reylynn Sapong forced three turnovers to hold Marianas High’s 15-point advantage.
MHS 38, KHS 16 in junior varsity
In junior varsity, the Lady Dolphins delivered a similar outcome after defeating Kagman, 38-16 during the first game.
The Lady Ayuyus scored no more than six points in each quarter, causing them a troublesome 12-point deficit by the second period.
Top scorer Kaizanda Gozon hammered two baskets and squeezed in a free throw for five of MHS’ first 11 points and left the third quarter with eight, along with another shot from Angelica Morales.
Marianas High’s Mariane Lumabi ended the match with three consecutive baskets, scoring eight points overall while Shaina Santiago piled four. Morales and Patricia Echavez added two apiece.
