This year’s schedule includes two morning games a week — about a half an hour before school starts. There are regular daily games at 1 p.m. on Monday through Friday. Registered teams include: Balls of Fury, Geeks, Aim Low, Roc It, Lay Low, Give-a-Hoot, Just-do-It, Alpha Q, G-Sports, IDK, Teachers, and Dream Team.
Rocball is a game that has taken this kind of team net sport to higher levels of competitive activity. Rocball has introduced bold and new concepts and innovative plays of various active and reactive elements, in advance of anything that’s been adopted by what is now a newer version of volleyball.
The sport that broke the rules of volleyball’s old side-out scoring method over 30 years ago will complete another season of two-point aces, xunks, and kees, one-point jams, three-point goals, and five hits in which players are allowed hit a ball with any part of the body including kicking a ball into play.
In the first round of play, there were 52 aces, 27 kees, 10 xunks, one jam, and six goals scored in addition to one-point court plays. Of the heavy hitters in each of Rocball’s scoring techniques, Daniel Agulto of Dream Team and Ben Olopai of Roc It each scored four aces, Damart Teregeyo of Give-a-Hoot scored two xunks, and the only jam scored in the first round was by Icemwar Somorang of Lay Low.
John Nekaifes of the Teachers, Y.J Nakayama of Aim Low, Brian Daria and Jim Lacsina of G-Sparks, Derick Olopai of Give-a-Hoot, and Icemwar Somorang and T.J. Lisua of Lay Low all scored one goal each for their teams.
The Dream Team defeated Balls of Fury 29-24, the Teachers swamped the Geeks 40-7, Aim Low beat IDK 39-10, G-Sparks edged Roc It 39-37, Give-a-Hoot slipped past Just-do-It 41-32, and Alpha Q won, 36-28 over Lay Low.
This week’s noon games are scheduled for Monday through Friday at 1 p.m. There are also 8 a.m. morning games on Tuesday and Thursdays.
