Amigos wins men’s finals in Chamolinian softball

Behind seven runs in the top of the seventh, Natibu’s Ken Kalen and Tony Luzama each hit two-run home runs to stay alive. Even with an extra two runs from Nokki Saralu and JR Suel, the Amigos still took the spotlight with a 22-21 win.

The odds were against team Natibu, who needed two straight wins to rule the championship.

The Amigos dominated their second game on a series of home runs in the second inning from Eric Palacios, Saipan Major League player Roy Celis, Peter Sablan, and Julian Camacho.

Palacios hit a three-run homer to lift the team, 8-0.

Natibu fired back and nailed a two-run home run from Jerome Delos Santos in the top of the fourth. The homers continued one inning later, with one from Suel.

Despite Natibu’s efforts, the Man Amigos stayed relentless on countless hits in the bottom of the sixth. James Fleming kicked off with a single, followed by three home runs from Palacios, Ben, and Jerry Ayuyu. Joey Dela Cruz and Manny Sablan continued with singles while Celis finished off with a double.

Natibu’s game one 29-25 victory went in vain when Jerry Guerrero posted their third out via flyball.

Sakudi clinches women’s title

In the women’s division’s finals, Sakudi dominated from start to finish and defeated team Check It Out, 28-3.

Sakudi’s top hitter Liz Lebria went a near-perfect 4-for-5 and struck four consecutive singles to aid the team’s unending rally.

Along with two runs from Keolani and Keina, Jaime bagged an RBI single for Check It Out’s final run of the night.

Sakudi started strong on a seven-run first inning. Rachel Saralila, who advanced via fielder’s choice in the top of the second, lifted the team, 8-0. Bert Camacho hit the game’s first home run one inning later, driving both her and Saralila home.

Pauline Camacho and Mel B. squeezed in only two runs for Sakudi in the top of the fourth, but that wasn’t much of a problem.

Check It Out faltered in the defense while Jenny Palacois, Salalila, Camacho, Lebria, and Popo Tudela took turns hitting singles. Lillian Aguon capped their batting spree with an RBI double.

Left fielder Tani Masga ended the match in style after landing a grand slam in the top of the seventh.
