Igitol now Oceania officer

Igitol was informed of her appointment by BCO secretary general Chet Gray yesterday, and her appointment was effective from June 22 of this year.

“It is of great honor to be elected to the BCO Executive Committee, the governing body for the development and promotion of baseball in the Oceania Region,” said Igitol in an email to Variety.

The organization’s primary responsibilities are to coordinate, encourage, organize, assist, and promote the development of baseball in the region. It is recognized by the International Baseball Association.

According to her, executive members are “tasked in overseeing BCO activities and ensuring that their objectives and policies are adhered to.”

“Being a member will enable me to have first-hand information on educational programs available for coaches, umpires, and administrators, as well as clinics, tournaments, and championships for our players,” she added.

Igitol thanks BCO vice president and Guam Baseball Association member Bob Steffy for nominating her, and the Executive Committee.

“With 22 years of baseball administration under my belt, I feel I can represent the people of the CNMI and the North well and also carry out the mandates of this organization,” said Igitol.

The Baseball Confederation of Oceania is currently headed by Australia’s Bob Finlay. Also in the committee are: New Caledonia’s Laurent Cassier (Second Vice President), New Zealand’s David Ballinger, and Fiji’s Ronald Seeto.
