A four-run second inning brought the Fielders up, 5-0 and kept the Martha Retail Store-BTS Program Survivors at bay for the rest of the game.
Rogolifoi went 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI, hitting a double to send Uchau and Cody Kaipat home at the bottom of the fifth. Rogolifoi drove Uchau in again with a single one inning later.
The Survivors found some luck as James Kintaro bagged their first run on an error at the top of the third.
Fielders’ short stop Davin Ada replied with a run-scoring single.
“It was wonderful, fantastic…” said Fielders’ coach Anthony Tenorio after the game. “My boys performed their best today. They came prepared at a 150 percent. I believe everyone was well rested and they all came to win this game.”
Uchau went 3-for-3 with three singles and two runs. Kaipat struck out four, walked six, and allowed three runs on two hits in the first six innings. Right fielder Keene Guerrero went 2-for-4 and posted one run on an error.
Second baseman Truman Shiro handed the Survivors a run-scoring double at the top of the sixth and returned home via wild pitch. Jeremy, Jose, and Jeffrey Lizama took turns on the mound and struck out four with three walks.
The newly crowned champions also claimed the Junior League’s pennant title with a regular season record of 11 wins and one loss. They crushed the Ol’ Aces, 9-7 in last month’s semifinals.
The rest of the team includes: Jack Espinosa, Kai Wanket, Khobby Kaipat, Mason Fruit, Zach Sasamoto, Jerry Kintol, Miko Gabionza, assistant coach Wensiner Namelo, and manager Patrick Tenorio.
Falcons 6, Ol’ Aces 2
In a consolation game, the Natibu Sports Association Tanapag Falcons earned third place after beating the Ol’ Aces, 6-2.
The Falcons had a slow start, allowing the visiting team to take a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Ol’ Aces’ left fielder Mike Muna delivered a two-run single to send lead-off batter Jesse Brel and Verlance Secharmidal home.
The tides turned when Falcons’ Frankie Norita and David Malwelbug tied the game with one run each. Norita bagged two RBI singles at the bottom of the fifth, putting the team ahead, 4-2. He, along with Darion Jones and Frankie Lieto, tallied six strikeouts and five walks.
The Ol’ Aces – pulling off only four hits – came out empty for the rest of the match.
Malwelbug went 2-for-3 with two runs and two singles. Short stop AJ Evangelista finished the bottom of the sixth with an RBI.
The Falcons ranked third in this year’s regular season with seven wins and five losses. Prior to the playoffs, the Ol’ Aces survived a tiebreaker against the Kagman Lions and Jets.
