The MMAC event is the largest cancer fundraising event in the Northern Mariana Islands. It is the signature fundraising event of the Commonwealth Cancer Association, a volunteer-led non-profit organization that ensures all funds raised are spent locally on cancer patient assistance, cancer awareness programs and other cancer related services.
The CCA is inviting the entire community to come out and support the nine teams as they compete for the Most Laps, Most Money Raised (three different categories), Best Baton, Most Spirit, Best Tent and Most Luminaries sold.
All of the money raised will be donated to the CCA.
There will be games, great food, live entertainment and other events going on throughout the night beginning at 5:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday morning.
The community is also welcome to participate in walking laps around the track field that will be outlined with the lighted luminaries that honor friends and family who are currently battling cancer and those who have passed on.
So please bring all your friends and family and help support the fight against cancer.
The annual cancer survivor dinner will be held at 6 p.m.
Anyone who has battled cancer or is currently battling cancer is invited to attend the survivor dinner held in their honor.
Please contact 2011 survivor committee chairwoman Nora Sablan at 235-0994 or email [email protected] to register.
It is not too late to purchase Luminaries! Luminaries will be sold on site under the MMAC tent at $5 each. All luminaries sold before 5 p.m. on the day of the event will be honored during a Luminary Ceremony, in which the names of the luminaries will be read out by team representatives.
For more information, you may contact the 2011 MMAC luminary committee chairwoman Catherine Attao-Toves at 285-1828 or email [email protected] for more information.
There will be an ongoing raffle for 1 round trip ticket anywhere in the U.S. mainland, 1 round trip ticket anywhere in Asia, and travel vouchers on behalf of Delta Airlines.
Each ticket is $5 each. Members of the community may purchase raffle tickets at team and MMAC tents. The raffle drawing will take place at midnight and you do not need to be present to win.
