Consul General Medardo Macaraig said Fabian succeeds Rey Tayag who finished his term on Feb. 1 to assume another important position with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, or OWWA, in Manila.
Last week, the Philippine Consulate General welcomed Fabian during a small gathering.
Before her assignment to Saipan, Fabian was the officer in charge of OWWA Regional Welfare Office IV-A.
Fabian served as chief of the programs and services division of OWWA Region IV-A and officer in charge of the social benefits division of the regional welfare office in the National Capital Region.
From 2004 to 2007, she served as welfare officer in Milan, Italy.
Fabian holds a masters degree in business administration and has more than 29 years of experience in the front lines of OWWA.
“She would be a vital member of the Philippine Consulate General in its efforts to assist Filipinos in the Northern Mariana Islands,” Macaraig said.
During the gathering, officers and staff of the consulate general also bid farewell to Jose Rey Madrilejos and his wife Teresita. The couple are scheduled to leave Saipan today.
Macaraig said Madrilejos served as the assistance-to-nationals officer of the consulate general for the past six years.
Madrilejos’ new assignment is with the Department of Foreign Affairs.
“The consulate extends to them its gratitude for six years of valuable services to Filipinos in the CNMI and wishes them the best of luck in all their future endeavors,” Macaraig said, referring to Madrilejos and his wife.
