Iguel leads Cagers past Rollers, 92-87

Iguel ignited the Smart Cagers’ winning rally after marking seven points for the team during the first quarter grabbing an eight point lead against the younger Rollers Madness, 21-13.

The Rollers Madness were able to close the gap to one point during the second quarter after Dominic Reyes after garnering two jumpshots and a three pointer for a total of seven points.

Teammate Juan Ogarto’s three pointer shot made in the last minute of the quarter slightly blurred the Smart Cagers’ winning rally, 39-38.

The Smart Cagers let railed behind the three pointer line during the third quarter of the match. Iguel and teammate Manolo Manalo each nailed a piece while Rommel Usi garnered a pair to leave the Rollers behind.

Center player Darwin Barbo snuck to the basket for eight more points; the Smart Cagers never let the driver’s seat of the game go.

The Smart Cagers moved on to dominate in the last quarter of the bout with Barbo at the helm. The center player marked 13 more points; 9 points of them being charity shots.

The Smart Cagers handed the upset of the game to the Rollers Madness, 92-87. The Rollers Madness now has one win and one loss in the league.

Ferrera Builders 95, Rollers Happiness 68

Meanwhile the second game against the Ferrera Builders and Rollers Happiness started out rather lethargically. The younger players managed to sneak behind the Ferrera Builders for reverse shots grabbing a 9-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game.

The Ferrera Builders’ jewel Kae Bernardo missed crucial shots during the first quarter and continued to lose possession of the ball.

Teammate Gilbert Miranda rescued Bernardo after marking 12 points foiling the Rollers Happiness. At the bottom of the quarter the Ferrera Builders managed the lead 23-19.

Bernardo’s 12 point bucket during the second quarter quickened the pace of the game for both teams. They were able to balloon their lead to 11 points, 44-33.

Center player Rex Yabut contributed his four pence in the third quarter of the game while teammate Noel David took crucial off the key shot for four more points, 63-54.

The Ferrera Builders finished the Rollers Happiness off during the fourth quarter of the match. James Wabinga shot for 9 more points while teammates Bernardo and James Abuy marked six points a piece in the final minutes of the game clinching the win, 95-68.
