The meet continues tomorrow, 8 a.m., and starts again at 4 p.m. The SSC will then hold an ocean swim on Sunday, with registration at 7 a.m. and the race launching an hour later.
The three-day competition expects 120 swimmers, according to SSC coach Lisa Kimball. Local participants will be joined by Guam’s Manukai Athletic Club and Tarakito Swim Club.
Age categories for the pool meet are: 8-and-under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18 for males and females. In addition to these, the ocean swim will include 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-and-above.
The ocean swim takes place near the tanks north of Saipan World Resort. Its courses per age group are: 0.6-kilometer for 8U, 1-k for 9-10, 1.3-k for 11-12, 2.5-k for 13-14 and 15-19. Adults may enter either 1.3-k or 2.5-k courses.
On Sunday, 8U participants will swim to the closer tank and back; a 1-k swim stretches to the further tank and back; 1.3-k is around both tanks and 2.5-k is twice around.
