Dave Sablan lifted the Hoopaholics surging past Satbahi after being granted three charity shots due to unsports manlike conduct in the last critical seconds of the game.
During the middle of the first quarter of the game Ponce Rasa from Hoopaholics pushed Satbahi’s Rolly Paraiso which resulted in ejection from the game. Paraiso was grabbing onto Rasa’s uniform while executing a defense tactic against him. The referee immediately called a foul on Rasa’s reaction resulting to both sides pushing each other. The officials stopped the game while attempting to separate both players.
“I then made an immediate decision to eject both players from the game. The decision for both ejection was base on the Tribunal Penalties the league have implemented and under article: A.2 “UNDULY ROUGH PLAY AFTER A WARNING” and/or article: A.9 “OTHER UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT”, which by both, the penalties could result from 1-10 games.” claimed James Lee, president of the league.
“Again, the decision to eject both players was due to both sides retaliating back towards the incident.” he added.
Right from the beginning of the game it was already a hair raising event. Satbahi snatched the driver’s seat of the game from the Hoopaholics by one shaky point at the bottom of the first quarter. After the messy encounter between Rasa and Paraiso was squared away the game continued on.
Team Hoopaholics refused to lose another and stepped it up a notch upon entering the second quarter. Hoopaholics’ Dave Sablan garnered 10 points throughout the second quarter to put some breathing space between themselves and team Satbahi.
He was able to close the gap made during the earlier quarter and lift his team past Satbahi with a stronger two point ground. Jawn Joyner and Melvin Manibusan jumped into the band wagon to help Sablan stretch the gap to dim Satbahi’s hope of ever catching up to a bear minimum.
After two successful three pointer shots from Satbahi’s Luis Abuel, they were able to finally catch up to their rivals at 53 points all. The game from then on was thrown back and forth sending the crowd near the edge of their seats in the last three minutes of the game.
But after Jawn Joyner nailed a three pointer shot in the last minute and thirty seconds of the game they were once again tied with Satbahi. But with the lack of an effective offensive tactic Satbahi fell to Hoopaholics.
Satbahi was penalized by too many fouls which resulted in player Marlon Sison’s agitated arguments with the referees but to no avail the game continued on. Dave Sablan was given three charity shots on one foul called due to unsports manlike foul which was treated like a technical foul with the possession of the ball given to the Hoopaholics after the charity shot were made.
Sablan gave the Hoopaholics the edge that they need to surpass team Satbahi leaving them in their dust, 77-73.
The table officials present at the game along with the two referees, James Lee was not part in the decision making to avoid other conflicts, decided to suspend Ponce Rasa for two games (including the ejection of last Monday night’s game).
The board decided to suspend Rolly Paraiso for one game (including the ejection of last Monday night’s game). Paraiso will be allowed to play in his team’s next game.
