NMC PROA guards perfect record

His partner on the court Pete Iguel did not go unnoticed during the game for he too contributed majority of PROA’s points. Iguel connected to the basket for 12 points throughout the game only entering the arena during the second quarter.

All was going well for team PROA but the Prospects put up a great fight against them not letting the gap go for more than three points a quarter except in the last ten minutes of the game.

For the first time in this season’s history, team Prospect snatched the lead right under PROA’s guard by one point at the bottom of the third quarter after Leo Apelo nailed a jump shot slicing past PROA’s defense barrier.

Jesus Valdez ignited PROA’s winning rally early into the game after he collared 6 points. Teammates Aitao Barcinas, Gino Libuw and Dan Barcinas each contributed his four pence to the scoreboard to give PROA the driver’s seat of the game, 18-16.

It was no different story during the second quarter of the bout. The dynamic duo, Lizama and Iguel, each scored 6 points for PROA to secure the lead away from the former champions. After Iguel nailed the last shot of the first half of the game, the scores were 31-28 in favor of PROA.

Team Prospect finally got their act together and stepped it up a notch to historically steal the lead away from PROA who holds the only perfect record in the league.

Eli Aughenbaugh, Alex Lauron, and Leo Apelo each bagged four points with the help of Ernie Moises’ three pointer shot. Apelo nailed a bold jump shot past PROA’s center man to coin the lead away from PROA by one point, 43-42.

Both teams entered the last quarter of the game with high hopes. But fatigue and weariness got the better part of the Prospects after their heroic efforts during the third quarter. PROA took no time in remorse for team Prospects and crushed them with the help of Coach Rufino Aguon.

Jack Lizama collared a total of 9 points throughout the time allotted in the final quarter. Following him came partner-in-the-court Pete Iguel who snatched 6 points for the team to hand the upset of the game to the Prospects, 65-57.

Team NMC PROA continues to be the only team in the Docomo/UBA Men’s Basketball League who holds a perfect 7-0 record.
