Lady Dolphins rout Settsu Red Impulse, 68-56

The Dolphins came out victorious, claiming a 13-point win  over the international team, 68-56.

Right from the start of the game the lady Dolphins took possession of the driver’s seat of the game.

Team Captain Lia Rangamar scored seven points to ignite the lady Dolphins’’ winning rally. Center player and teammates Ira Palero and Jaime Mendoza each contributed their four pence to leave the Red Impulse behind.

It wasn’t a different story during the second quarter, the lady Dolphins were able to catch up to the red Impulse back and forth down the court no matter how fast their plays were.

The lady Dolphins created an immovable barrier against the red Impulse to keep their scoring at bay. Young gun Jeraldine Castillo nailed six points for MHS after stealing the ball twice from Settsu’s point guard.

Upon entering the arena for the second half of the bout MHS’ Jaime Mendoza attempted boldly behind the three pointer line. Mendoza was able to score eight points while teammates Lia Rangamar and Jerlayn Castillo each garnered six points and four points respectively.

The fourth quarter proved to be brutal for the Settsu team as fatigue got the better part of them. The lady Dolphins took not time for remorse and took aedvantage of this after center player Ira Palero bagged another eight points for the team while Jaime Mendoza contributed her five points.

Team Captain Lia Rangamar made one final statement in the last ten seconds of the game as she was assisted an open shot right behind the three pointer line. Rangamar threw the ball up as the buzzer rang to seal the 2011 game with a successful three pointer shot, 68-56.

MISO All-Stars ladies rally past COPSSA All-Stars team

The MISO All-Stars team defeated the COPSSA All-Stars ladies group after a rough encounter during the finals of the 2011 Settsu-Saipan Friendship Basketball Tournament held at the Marianas High School gymnasium Tuesday.

From the beginning of the coalition until its eulogy team MISO grasped the lead of the game to hand the upset to COPSSA and bag third place overall, 73-37.

During the first quarter MISO led by three points, enlarging the gap to 13 points during the second quarter, closing the gap at 24 points during the third quarter, and finally 36 points during the fourth quarter of the game.

Fourth quarter proved to be brutal on COPSSA’s side as MISO took no time to grieve over the gap. MISO took major advantage as fatigue got the better part of COPSSA placing them in fourth overall, 73-37.
