119 Filipinos on Tinian avail of Philippine consulate services

Consul General Medardo Macaraig said the overall result of the first mobile services mission conducted out of Saipan turned out to be very positive.

Consulate staffers received and processed a total of 78 ePassport applications, 20 applications for Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, 11 overseas employment certificates and other services.

Macaraig said their mobile services helped address the needs of Filipinos on Tinian, allowing them to save on transportation costs.

Over 60 individuals availed of the services on the first day. Macaraig said they were also able to reach out to Filipino workers on Tinian and keep their passports updated.

Macaraig extends his thanks to Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino general manager Tom Liu and the hotel staff for allowing them to use the hotel facilities, to Fr. Sid Ogumoro of San Jose Parish and Francesca Esguerra for facilitating the information dissemination among Filipinos in Tinian.

“We are thankful for the support of these individuals who helped us reach out to the Filipinos and made our mobile mission successful,” Macaraig said.

Macaraig said OWWA membership applications and payments are still being accepted even though a new OWWA representative to replace Rey Tayag whose deployment here already ended, has not arrived on island yet.

He said those who have not paid or want to renew their OWWA membership can visit the OWWA office on the ground floor of the Marianas Business Plaza in Susupe during office hours.

Individuals who want to apply for ePassport can download the application form from  www.philippinessaipan.org, fill it out and fax or mail it to P.O. Box 500731, Saipan.
