Demapan gets two years for ‘ice’

Judge Perry B. Inos also imposed an extra year that will run concurrent for Demapan’s violating the terms of his release from his prior three criminal convictions.

Demapan was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and to undergo substance abuse counseling.

The Attorney General’s Office moved for the dismissal of the remaining charge which the court granted.

Assistant Attorney General Peter Prestley prosecuted the case, while attorney Joseph James Norita Camacho was counsel for Demapan.

Last July, Demapan surrendered to police after the news came out that the authorities were looking for him.

In 2003, then-Associate Judge Juan T. Lizama sentenced Demapan to 15 years, all suspended except for eight years.

Demapan pleaded guilty to three counts of illegal possession of a controlled substance in 2001 and 2002.
