Ayuyus hand Knights 2nd loss in MISO caging

With the exception of Anthony Sablan, nearly all Mount Carmel School’s players scrambled for a way through the Kagman giant during their basketball game at Marianas High School’s gymnasium.

Winning 79-56 was a good sign for KHS, whose players dominated both offensive and defensive rebounds. They pulled nine points ahead four minutes into the second quarter as Juan Maratita and Michael Manglona took turns landing easy shots past the Knight’s defense.

MCS’ leading scorer, Johnathan Griffin scored his last four points in the first half before being switched out of the court.

KHS kept steady in the third quarter as they widened the gap in the scores. Their 43-31 lead definitely wasn’t a good sign for the Knights, who at times resorted to panic shots. The Ayuyus’ full court press was effective in the second half.

Reynald Cabaltica landed two layups for the Knights before getting fouled. He garnered nine points in the third quarter while Min Kim added four.

The Ayuyus finished off with an additional 15 points in the last eight minutes.

KHS is scheduled for tomorrow’s junior varsity and varsity games against Saipan Southern High School.
