Cardinals crush Phillies 21-0 for eighth win

The Cardinals didn’t get off to the best start, as two quick outs came within their first three batters. But Brian Camacho provided the spark, ripping a double that drove in Nokki Saralu and Jerald Cabrera for the first two runs of the game. Camacho later scored on an Eli Aughenbaugh RBI single, and two more runs came across on errors before the Phillies could stop the bleeding, giving the Cards a 5-0 lead.

In the bottom of the first, the Phillies tried to respond and advanced runners as far as second base, but the Cardinals recorded three outs to keep them scoreless.

The Cardinals’ offense stayed hot in the second inning as the rest of the lineup joined in. Nate Camacho, Mike Brownstein, Poland Masaharu, and Tindin Leon Guerrero each drove in a run, while three more scored on wild pitches. By the end of the frame, the lead had stretched to 13-0.

The Phillies nearly broke through in the bottom half with a runner reaching third, but once again the Cards slammed the door, stranding two on base.

The Cardinals then sealed the game in the third inning, piling on eight more runs. Masaharu delivered the highlight with a bases-clearing double that drove in three, extending the margin to 21-0.

With the Phillies unable to produce any runs in their half of the inning, the game ended early under the 20-run mercy rule after just three innings.
