MPU Pink’s Pia Ngewakl attempts to beat a defender during a Dove Women’s League Fall 2024 game at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
MP United Football Club Pink remains the second-ranked team in the A division standings of the Dove Women’s League Fall 2024 after claiming their sixth win by edging Paire Football Club, 3-2, at the NMI Soccer Training Center on Wednesday.
MPU Pink quickly established control in the first half as it only took four minutes of action before they sliced through the defensive walls, allowing Jenisha Dubrall to score.
PFC pushed back and their efforts were rewarded at the 17th minute mark as Tsubakiko Joab broke through to find the back of the net to even the score, 1-1.
But PFC failed to keep up on the defensive end and were eventually overwhelmed as MPU’s Moriah Sablan and Pia Ngewakl scored at the 26th and 28th minute marks for a 3-1 lead
The match continued, but neither team was able to create a scoring opportunity throughout most of the second half until PFC’s Rizza Relucio managed to pick her defenders apart and was left open for the go-ahead at the 58th minute mark to close the distance, 2-3.
MPU Pink made sure they did not make the same mistake again as they focused on defense. They covered the weakside and worked as one long enough to earn their sixth win of the season.
