Man says he was tied, blindfolded, beaten up

A 36-year-old man was allegedly beaten up, tied and blindfolded by two persons on suspicion that he was telling the police about an illegal gambling business.

The victim, Shun Jia Wei, was freed last April 8 at Agingan Point by one of the suspects, Xiao Dei, according to the Department of Public Safety.

Wei reported to the police last Sunday that on April 8 at 1 a.m., he was in a room at a Garapan establishment when the suspect punched him on the face. The room was the venue for illegal gambling operations, the victim said.

Wei said he and Dei proceeded to the parking lot where he met his two friends. The victim said his friends invited him to China Town Karaoke on the second floor of Rainbow Store in Garapan.

At China Town Karaoke, the group started drinking beer at 1:30 a.m. After 30 minutes, Dei arrived with three men and began punching Wei on the face for allegedly telling the police about the illegal gambling operations.

The victim denied talking to the police, but he was brought to a room where the suspects tied his hands and legs. Dei told the victim they would take him to Banzai Cliff and kill him.

The suspects, however, took the victim behind a poker arcade in San Antonio where he was brought in a room and tied to a bed.
