THE former Wendy’s site along Beach Road in Garapan will have a new occupant.
The renovation of the building started on Tuesday, and it is expected to be completed in less than two months.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Alou, owner of Pacific Medical Center and a businessman, said the new restaurant will not be called Taco Bell as earlier reported (not by the Variety).
The restaurant has not been officially named, but sources say it may be called “Taco Maker.”
Al-Alou said he may establish another “very unique” food court in Garapan.
Another business venture is reportedly opening a Taco Bell restaurant on Saipan.
Wendy’s, which used to occupy the commercial space, shut down its operations in the fall of 2000 after the local franchise was terminated by Wendy’s International. Charles Jordan, president of Wendy’s local franchise, earlier said the prices of food, bad sales and high cost of rent forced the food store to close.
