Suspect accused of assaulting woman with handle of hammer

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A man was accused of using the handle of a hammer to assault a woman known to him.

On Jan. 22, officers with the Guam Police Department met with a woman who accused Kyle Jo Aguon, 27, of attacking her.

According to a magistrate’s complaint filed in the Superior Court of Guam, Aguon allegedly got upset with the woman, pushed her to the ground and “grabbed a hammer and hit her on the mouth with the bottom portion of the handle.”

The woman then got up and tried to get away from Aguon who asked where she was going. The woman responded she was going to the store. Aguon allegedly took the money from the woman’s hand and told her he would go to the store, but he never returned, the complaint stated.

The woman’s injuries consisted of abrasions and lacerations to her lower lip area and a cracked tooth. When offered medical attention, the woman refused, but police took photos of her injuries.

Additionally, officers confiscated the hammer to be used as evidence, the complaint stated.

Aguon was charged with aggravated assault as a third-degree felony and family violence as a misdemeanor.

Terrorizing

Aguon was also charged in another case with terrorizing as a third-degree felony in connection to an incident reported on May 8, 2023.

According to the complaint, GPD received reports of a person requesting police assistance in Dededo because a man was outside a residence, possibly carrying a handgun.

Upon arrival, officers searched for the male but were unable to find him. They then met with a woman who said she asked Aguon to watch her infant while she went to the store.

“Aguon began yelling at her and telling her to watch herself and to wait until she returns from the store. The victim told Aguon that she needed to purchase items for the baby. However, Aguon did not seem to care. Aguon then yelled at her that he would burn the house down with her inside,” according to the complaint.

Aguon then picked up a metal pipe and began banging on a canopy pipe before the woman contacted the police. She also informed GPD that Aguon “carries around a black bag that contains bullets. However, she is unaware of what type and if he carried a gun,” the complaint stated.

Charging documents also state the victim has an active order of protection against Aguon from Oct. 18, 2022, and it remains in effect until Oct. 18, 2027.

Aguon was charged with terrorizing as a third-degree felony, violation of a court order and family violence as misdemeanors.
