Bridge Thomas received a digital camera for his picture of a Palauan lady worker from Ngaremlengui State.The student said he never expected that his work would impress the judges and was so glad to have won the Best Photo award.Thomas said he was grateful to all the instructors and the people behind the workshop, adding he learned a lot from the five days of basic photography and techniques.“I think after this workshop, I might consider pursuing a career in photography,” he said.15-year-old Lamar Debengek, a 10th grader from PHS, said he too was impressed with his artwork, saying he did not know that he could do such thing.“I didn’t know that I can take picture as beautiful as that. I was just so happy to know that I can,”he said.Debengek’s photo exhibit, coconut trees on a beach, was chosen second Best photo and won the Learning to be award. He got a clock as prize.Jennie Augusto landed third and got the Learning to do award. The 11th grade from PHS got a picture frame as prize.Antonia Didi Kerai, in coming Junior High School from Bethania High School got the Learning to know award or Fourth Best Photo.She said she’s not interested to join at the said workshop at first but decided to participate when her best friend convinced her.Kerai said she was glad that she joined because she learned that photography could be a good hobby for young individuals like her.“Instead of drugs, taking pictures could be a lot of fun. It is very interesting. I want to be a police detective someday and I want to be a police officer, who takes pictures of the crime scene,”she said.Alcuin Kloulchad, Klilt Olgeriil and Kaya Solomon, all of PHS, received each special selection awards for their respective photo exhibits.Kerai and the special selection awardee also received picture frames as prizes.The students said they all had fun during the five-day workshop and they learned a lot from their instructors.The pictures of the other participants were also displayed at the Cafeteria of the Palau Community College.A closing ceremony was held on Friday and was attended by Minister of Education Mario Katosang, Dwight Alexander, Secretary General, Palau Natcom, MasaAki Emesiochl, Chairman, Palau Natcom and Kim Kwang Hyun, Chief, APCEIU Publications and Taruu Nakamura, PCC-Continuing Education.
