Gualo Rai’s Ohane takes the running shot during a U18 boys division game of the 2022 Marianas Village Pride Basketball League at the TSL Sports Complex.
Gualo Rai remains undefeated and at the top of the food chain.
Against Navy Hill, Gualo Rai took control early thanks to the work of Craig Padayao and Lucio Aldan who scored a combined 11 points.
Navy Hill relied on the two-man game of Nyrel Eugenio and Sean Garcia, but Gualo Rai had extra firepower coming off the bench as Leo Naraja and Ellijah Garcia took over midway through the first half to push a double-digit lead, 33-20.
Navy Hill picked up the pace during the second half as Charlz Sanchez and Edison Viana joined the fray alongside Eugenio.
But their efforts were in vain as they failed to stop Gualo Rai’s Padayao, Aldan and Garcia who were joined by team mates Ohane and Derek Sasamoto in the final minutes of the game to help stretch their lead en route to a 70-56 victory.
Tanapag vs San Antonio
On Saturday, Tanapag, which is no. 2 in the team standings, bagged their fourth win by defeating San Antonio.
Tanapag held a double-digit lead by the end of the first half, 32-21, thanks to the consistency of Gino Rasg and Johnkae Raquepo who scored 12 and 9 points.
In the second half, San Antonio led by Christian Lucero and Lance Lerio outscored Tanapag in team points.
However, San Antonio’s lack of defensive stops allowed Tanapag to capitalize on its great ball movement and unselfish plays to maintain the distance and secure the win, 60-51.
