Pearson beat poker aficionado and local lawyer Jack Torres to win the trophy and $5,000.
Torres won the second place while his brother, attorney Vince Torres, placed third. The Torres brothers won $3,000 and $2,000.
The poker championship started at 3 p.m. and finished at 10:05 p.m.
Kiri Jackson, Dynasty’s casino marketing & promotions coordinator, said the entrance fee was $1,100 including $100 commission.
“Although we were expecting a bigger number of players than the 10 who showed up, the tournament was still a success,” Jackson said.
Dynasty, she added, will host another major event, the Baccarat Challenge, on Sept. 6-7.
“We are expecting approximately 120 or more participants from Korea and Japan for the Baccarat Challenge over the weekend,” Jackson said.
She added that the entry fee of $1,000 is inclusive of three-night hotel accommodations, meals, transfers, airfare reimbursement and a gift.
Jackson said a prize pool of over $100,000 will be up for grabs at the Baccarat Challenge.
At stake are $60,000 for first prize; $20,000, second prize; $10,000, third prize; $4,000, fourth prize; and $1,000 for the fifth to 10th prize winners.
“We are inviting you all to come and join the fun and excitement of this high-stakes tournament on Sept. 6-7,” Jackson said.
