Senate Floor Leader Alan Seid told reporters that Horlings will be asked to come to Palau to attend the confirmation hearing in person.
The JGA committee chaired by Senator Yukiwo Dengokl will handle the hearing, Seid said.Horlings is a former presidential legal counsel during the time of President Ngiratkel Etpison.President Remengesau submitted the name of Horlings to the Senate for approval last week.Horlings worked in Palau as the Attorney General and legal counsel to Etpison from 1989 to 1992.Horlings is currently working as an Environmental Attorney in Arizona, United States.Horlings when approved by the Senate will be replacing former Special Prosecutor Everett Walton.The president in his letter to Whipps said he is hoping that Horlings can assume his post in November this year.
