The main goal and objective of the association is to endorse the sport to various schools in order to encourage young kids to have interest and to make the community aware of this newly developing sport. This week PBA have visited 5 schools namely Airai Elementary School, SDA Elementary School, G.B. Harris Elementary School, Koror Elementary School and Meyuns Elementary School. There were a total of 285 students who were given a chance to feel and play the sport, which all of them are very keen to learn and happy at the end of each sessions. Tony also got a chance to meet up with PBA members and had a 3 day training with them as well. They were thought of basic skills and also techniques to improve their game.
This weekend 5 newly certified coaches have been awarded to help support the association in many ways. They will be helping to teach other players and PE teachers to help further the badminton sport in the island and most especially to all the schools. Tony will be departing this coming Wednesday and heading back to New Zealand. We are glad that this chance has been given to us by the Oceania Badminton and grateful to all the schools that has given their consent on our short notice visit. PBA have already lined up a calendar of events and one of them is having a Thanksgiving Tournament this coming November and will be open for all members. The association will also entertain a private lesson for kids who are interested in learning more of the basic skills and wanted to be serious about the sports.PBA are meeting every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 600pm-900pm at Palau High School Gym and we are inviting all interested individuals and families to come and join our regular games. We are hoping that thru this sport we could promote values and camaraderie and make a difference to our community. Any further inquiries please contact us at 488-3444 or 779-8555.
