Former NMI resident recognized as top realtor in San Diego, California

ADRIAN Guiao Quijano has been recognized by Whissel Realty in San Diego, California as realtor agent of the month for August.

According to the San Diego Association of Realtors or SDAR, Quijano made it to the top 200 of the leaderboard among more than 20,000 agents in San Diego.

The SDAR placed Quijano as the top 76th realtor in the county of San Diego by units sold, and among the top 200 realtors by sales volume.

After graduating from Tinian High School, Quijano joined the United States Marines as aviation technician and served for five years before pursuing a career in real estate.

“I chose real estate because I wanted to have my own business, be my own boss, have more freedom with unlimited potential income and most importantly, help people find their dream homes,” he said.

Quijano, 33, was born on Saipan but grew up on Tinian. He also spent three years as a child in the Philippines under the care of his grandmother.

His stepfather is former Tinian Department of Public Safety Resident Director Matthew Masga and his mother is Christina Guiao.

According to Quijano, his goal is to be the number No. 1 realtor in San Diego, and to have multiple investment properties.

Asked whether working in real estate is difficult, Quijano said, “Yes, very hard — 90% of realtors don’t make it.”

Quijano has the following message to the CNMI youth:

“When you realize that growing up on the islands is an advantage, anything is possible. Our humble beginnings are what make us competitive against everyone else who didn’t grow up in the Marianas. Success is something you attract by the person you become. In order to become more, you have to visualize and believe in yourself while staying true to your roots. Fail forward. Have faith. Stay hungry and stay humble.”
