Vehicle sales up by 5.88 percent in October

The data released by the Commonwealth Auto Dealers Association showed that Joeten Motors, Microl Corp. and Triple “J” Motors sold 20 sedans, four trucks, one van, and 11 sports utility vehicles.

Microl Corp. took the lead, selling 16 brand new units for a 44.44 percent of the market share.

Joeten Motors came in second with  13 brand new units sold, or a market share of 36.11 percent.

Triple “J” Motors sold seven units, claiming a 19.44 market share.

Toyota remains the island’s favorite brand, selling a total of 15 units.

Nissan and Ford followed with four units sold each. Honda and Mazda had three units each, Kia, Hyundai and Mitsubishi each sold two, while Chevrolet sold only one unit.

On a year to date report, vehicle sales went up by 1.32 percent.

The three dealers sold a total of 536 vehicles from January to October. Last year’s sales totaled 529 during the same period.

This year’s brand new  sales included 297 sedans, 52 trucks, 42 vans, 139 SUVs and six “others.”

Sales of used vehicles also posted an increase from 33 units in September to 38 in October.

Microl Corp. and Joeten Motors sold 13 used cars each, claiming a 34.2 percent of the market share. Following close is Triple “J” which sold 12 used cars, representing 31.6 percent of the market share.

From January to October, the three car dealers sold  316 used vehicles.

Joeten Motors is the distributor of Nissan, Ford, Honda and Kia. Microl Corp. distributes Toyota and Chevrolet while Triple “J” Motors distributes Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Suzuki, and Mazda.
