In an interview on Friday, Crisostimo who was elected as a senator in 2003 as Democrat but sought re-election as an Independent last year, said he wants to continue serving the people of the commonwealth.
He said the NMI Democratic Party has already abandoned him twice, so he does not think it’s wise to keep on pursuing a party “that does not like me anymore.”
The first time the Democratic Party “kicked him out” was when it did not endorse him last year.
Party leaders said Crisostimo supported the GOP slate in the 2005 elections.
In this year’s congressional delegate election, the party left him behind again when it endorsed former Sen. David M. Cing.
The Republican Party, Crisostimo said, has never left him behind.
Before he joined the Democratic Party, Crisostimo said was a Republican.
He said he joined the Democrats to support his uncle, Froilan C. Tenorio who ran for governor in 1993 and won.
Crisostimo said he wants Speaker Arnold I. Palacios, R-Saipan, to be his running mate.
