According to Toribiong office’s “there has been a long dispute over the male and female clan titles of Tmeleu Clan of Airai that dragged on court for years during the tenure of Roman Tmetuchl as Ngiraked and Ngerut Matlab as Obad.”
When Tmetuchl was succeeded by his nephew Johnson after his passing, Johnson began the process of mending the division of the clan.Johnson’s cousin Robat Ngireblekuu continued to claim the title as Ngiraked and was recognized by Airai State Government. During the campaign, Johnson was confronted with controversy again and he committed to relinquish the title to the women chief who has the female title and those reasonable for the selection of the title if elected.For now, clan members will either choose another to bear the title of Ngiraked or recognize Ngirablekuu as the title holder.
