DPS to assist parents in installing car seats

He said parents who are having problems in installing car seats can seek assistance from the Department of Public Safety any time.

Ogumoro said there are many car seat models and each model has different lock up systems and features, and this is why some parents may find it hard to install the car seats.

“Locking your children in car seats when traveling in the highway is very important, and we can help parents install their car seats if they need help,” Ogumoro said.

He added that DPS has certified technicians who can teach parents how to buckle up each car seat correctly.

Urging parents to heed the car seat law is part of the Traffic Division’s effort in promoting awareness and educational campaigns to increase the rate of seatbelt and car seat use in the CNMI.

Ogumoro earlier said that the use of seatbelts and car seats is a primary law in the CNMI and DPS is strictly implementing it to protect lives.

DPS, in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, encourages parents with children  0-16 years old to properly restrain their children every time they travel.
