Aging Center acting Director Rose DLG. Mondala said “Manamko’ Take Over Day” is an annual event “loved” by the elderly.
The participating senior citizens met at the Aging Center before heading to government offices as early as 8 a.m., she said.
The senior citizens earlier drew lots to determine their office assignments.
At the Aging Center, Joaquina Kaniki took over Mondala’s post and helped distribute the pay checks for the Aging Center’s personnel.
Mondala said the Commonwealth Ports Authority could not accommodate the senior citizens because CPA was scheduled to meet with federal officials on that day.
At the mayor’s office on Saipan, James Jordan took over Mayor Juan B. Tudela’s post while at Commonwealth Utilities Corp., Executive Director Antonio Muna’s place was taken by Remy Bowie.
Muna took Bowie to all departments of the CUC and briefed her on duties of the executive director.
“I want her to have a good understanding of our operations,” Muna told Variety.
When asked how she was going to “solve” the CNMI’s power problems, Bowie said in jest that “it’s not easy.”
The governor’ post was taken over by Emerenciana Reyes while the lt. governor for the day was Teresita Sorroza.
In the Legislature, the Senate president was Rosa Castro while Yi Yong Cha served as House speaker.
Dino Jones was the public health secretary while Ernest Rotenis served as the public works chief.
