Australia dominates Oceania caging

Sean Mullan basketed nine of his 10 free throws as he led the team’s scoring hands, firing a total of 15 points, then, gave New Zealand its first loss, 69-47.

Reece Maxwell blasted twice from behind the arc and finished with 11 points, and Jeromie Hill helped pace Australia with two pointers scoring a total of 10 points.

Kurtin Phillips helped clamped the offense with three assists and six offensive rebounds. He added seven points.

With Thomas Daly’s five defensive rebounds, Maxwell, Mulan and Hill helped turn the game around with two steals each.

Jan Warbout scored eight; Benjamin Purcher, 6; Cameron Bairstow, 5, Daly, 4 and Bradley Simpson 2.

New Zealand’s Luke Aston bombarded Australians with three three-pointers as he led the team with 14 points.

Daniel Green fired two three-point shots.

In women’s division, Australia’s Caitlin Rowe scattered 20 points in the court and went 2-for-3 helping her team hand Guam its third loss, 92-12.

Rebecca Cole helped Nicole Seekamp put up a tight defense as both of them led a break away with four steals each.

Rebecca Campigli also worked hard in defense turning the game around with nine defensive rebounds.

The height-advantaged Australian cagebells limited Guam’s score to 12, with Kathryn Castro and Ritalyn Anderson scoring six each.
