This Saturday, the power outage scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 12:20 noon will affect Oleai, he said.
“The purpose of this outage is to allow the power distribution line crews to clear the vegetation that is contacting primary lines in the village,” he told Variety.
Camacho said this is also part of the regular maintenance of the power division to increase power reliability and safety.
“It will first be necessary to de-energize the entire Kiya 4 circuit for approximately 30 minutes so the line crew may isolate the designated project area,” he said, adding that such procedure is essential to provide a safe working area for the crews and to isolate the outage only in the designated area.
The four-hour outage will affect Oleai St., Tammwoora Ave., Ellegh Ave., Texas Rd. to Oleai Elementary School including Falasow Pl. and Patio Pl. and other customers within the area.
Camacho is seeking the cooperation and patience of the community, especially those who are passing and residing in these areas during the line-clearing operation.
“CUC personnel will work diligently to minimize any inconvenience to the consumers,” he said.
CUC, he added, will work with the Department of Public Works and personnel from the Workforce Investment Agency in the line-clearing operation.
He said they will use two bucket trucks.
On May 23, CUC completed the line-clearing operation in Susupe.
The operation now moves forward to San Vicente while system maintenance is ongoing, Camacho said.
Camacho is asking the public to be patient while CUC conducts line-clearing operations in massively vegetated areas around Saipan.
He said the line clearing operation is their priority although it takes a lot of time to accomplish since they lack personnel and resources.
