By sharing their own experience back in Fiji,Maharaj who has a deep back round in the corporate world before he got involved in the nation’s sports gave NMASA people hints on creating a program that can get sports groups, the corporate sector and the community together.
He believes that together, all these sectors can achieve something.
First to visit the CNMI, Maharaj said he can see a lot of opportunities for the NMI sports.
He explained the value of sports for nation building, economic growth and healthy lifestyle of a society. He tipped the NMASA off about setting an strategic plan based on the vision, pillars and the best approach in building the capacity.
Sports, he noted can go beyond just being a sports. Aside from contributing to the economy and the people’s well-being, it can also be used to communicate the message on social issues, like substance and drug abuse or HIV.
“There are a lot of things that can be done. There is more for every one,” he said.
